Boarding
Cedar Elm Stables offers full care boarding. We feed a 12% sweet
feed, fed twice daily and 18% Bermuda hay fed twice daily. Alfalfa
is also available. We give electrolytes and will also give needed
supplements if supplied by owners. Stalls are cleaned daily and
shaved weekly. Water buckets are disinfected daily. Horses are blanketed
and un-blanketed according to weather conditions. Blankets are cleaned
and repaired yearly. CES has 24 hours security. The whole facility
locks up at night behind security gates. Our boarders are given
a security code which allows entry for our boarders while keeping
all others out. This gives the safest environment for your horse.
CES has a very nice tack room giving each boarder their own saddle
rack and hooks for bridles, etc. We also have a cleaning area for
cleaning tack. We have outside wash racks, allowing three horses
to be bathed at once. We have inside and outside cross ties for
grooming and tacking. Round pens for lounging or play.
We have automatic fly spray systems; each stall has it own fly
spray system allowing for the best in horse comfort during the insects
months; also giving extra protection against the West Nile Virus.
Many stalls have their own paddocks.
CES offers three arenas, a small covered arena for lounging and
play time or free jumping, a large arena for schooling, lessons,
training, etc., this arena is situated on a hill offering us a summer
breeze almost every day during summer months. We have an outdoor
arena for equitation, lessons, and play time.
Students are welcome to hack in pastures or in the bottom lands.
We offer daily turn out according to your horses needs. Your horse
may have day play, night play, paddock play or arena play. Horses
are sent out in small groups in rotating pastures; or given individual
play times.
Our pastures are seeded twice yearly and turned under, keeping
our pastures green. We have two ponds for the horses to cool off
in for the summer months. Each stall has it's own fan for the summer
months which run day and night during the hot weather. Horse are
checked first thing in the mornings and last thing at night, making
sure every horse is comfortable.

Training
Cedar Elm Stables offers several different training packages. We
will in some cases start a horse from the ground up. Teaching ground
manners, as well as lunging, clipping, loading etc. All horses in
our training program are ridden by a qualified trainer. Horses are
taught to stand still when mounted. Stay balanced while working
all gaits. They are taught to stay soft left to right with beautiful
changes. We teach our horses to enjoy their work over fences. We
will be sure to never over fence your horse. We take training very
seriously and train according to the horses capabilities never asking
for more than the horse is ready to give. Horses may be put into
full time training, or a training / lesson program that includes
the student learning how the horse is being trained. Our trainers
will also show your horse to get the necessary show miles.
Our trainers also offer individual training rides.

Showing
CES is a show barn and we go to as many horse shows as we can. CES will do as much of
DHJSC, AHSA, AQHA and NTHJC as we are able to do. Riders are encouraged to do as many horse shows
as possible. Students who show received every sixth
haul FREE. Although we do not “Chase points,” we will
not stand in your way if you choose to do so. We want all out riders
to remember that horse showing is to be fun and we do it to have
a good time. Riders are encouraged to learn how the divisions are
set up, points are earned, courses are designed and how strides
are measured. They are always learning while getting to do what
they love. That is what riding is about.
